The season might be over for Los Angeles Loyola running back Anthony Barr, who suffered a broken ankle Friday night against Mission Viejo.

‘I would say it’s doubtful he’ll be back this season,’ Coach Jeff Kearin said Sunday. ‘I’m so devastated for the kid.’

Barr could need surgery, but Kearin said the long-term prognosis is good. Barr is one of the state’s top college prospects.

Junior running back Jared Baker is expected to take over as the starter, and Barr will be around to offer support.
