Mater Dei off to a quick start

Mater Dei tailback Jordan Allen may have put the Monarchs on the scoreboard with a one-yard touchdown run with 6:44 remaining in the first quarter. But Mater Dei wide receiver Victor Blackwell highlighted the 7-play, 68-yard scoring drive that resulted in a 6-0 lead (the Monarchs missed on the two-point conversion).

Blackwell started with a 33-yard run off a reverse to begin Mater Dei’s first drive. He then followed three receptions (six-yard screen pass, six-yard fade route and 22-yard screen pass that brought the Monarchs to the two-yard line).
