In a game that has featured a lot of great plays already, the strip from Orange Lutheran linebacker Junior Alvarado so far is the biggest one.

Mater Dei faced a blitz package on third-and-16 at Orange Lutheran’s 30-yard line when quarterback Max Wittek found wider receiver Victor Blackwell open in the middle seam. As soon as Blackwell made the catch, Alvarado stripped the ball out of his hands, marched down the field and was brought down by Blackwell at the 22-yard line.

Three plays later, Lancers quarterback Mike Markovsky connected with wide receiver Shawn Rohr with a 21-yard touchdown pass. Parker Flynn’s extra point gave Orange Lutheran a 7-6 lead with 9:57 remaining in the second quarter.
