Woodland Hills El Camino Real is playing perhaps its biggest game in 20 years Friday when it plays host to Taft, a team it hasn’t defeated since 1991.

El Camino Real Coach Kevin Williams has worked wonders in his three years with the Conquistadors, with the team off to a 7-0 start that is believed to be the best in school history. El Camino Real appears poised for the top seeding in the City Section Division II playoffs and should it win the title, Williams said he would move his team up to Division I for 2010.

‘It’s my belief that if you’re in Division II and you win, you should have to move up,’ Williams said.

The Conquistadors already have a marquee victory over Newhall Hart and could be the top-seeded team in Division II even if they lose to Taft. Arleta, the defending Division II champion, is undefeated on the field but suffered a season-opening forfeit loss against L.A. Marshall. The Mustangs haven’t beaten anyone near the caliber of Hart.
