It’s the equivalent of being on ‘Survivor’ and getting voted off almost immediately.

Call it a spoiler alert, but Servite quarterback Cody Fajardo told me after the Friars’ season-opening victory over Long Beach Poly that his stay on ‘The Ride’ was a short one. That is to say, he will be gone after the first couple of episodes when the first cuts are made.

‘The Ride’ is a reality show airing on Fox Sports Net and Comcast Sports affiliates throughout the country starting next week in which eight high school quarterbacks vie to become the nation’s top under-the-radar signal-caller, with a spot on the 2010 U.S. Army All-American Bowl at stake. The first episode will air at 10:30 p.m. Thursday on Prime Ticket.

Fajardo has led Servite, ranked No. 5 in the Southland by The Times, to a 6-1 start and a 2-0 record in Trinity League play. The Friars play Santa Margarita (3-4, 0-2) at Cerritos College on Friday.

The quarterbacks on ‘The Ride’ will be mentored by a select group of quarterback gurus including Tom Martinez, Tom Brady’s longtime instructor, former Cincinatti Bengals Coach Sam Wyche and former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski.

The other quarterbacks on the show are C.J. Bennett, William Fiacchi, Collin Jones, Cole Marcoux, Hutson Mason, Marcus McDade and Malik Stokes.
