Long Beach Poly put together an impressive drive to the Anaheim Servite seven-yard line on its opening possession, but a fake field goal was stopped inches short of a first down on the four-yard line.

Kicker Hayden Hunt took the handoff and barely came up short on a run.

This is a different Poly offense from the one 12 weeks ago that rarely moved the ball. On the first series, quarterback Chris Leachman twice helped the Jackrabbits pick up first downs on third-down situations. He had a 22-yard pass to Kaelin Clay and a 14-yard scramble.

The Jackrabbits moved the ball from their own 20 down to the eight. Poly’s drive was hurt by two 15-yard personal foul penalties and a holding penalty. But the Jackrabbits also used up a large amount of time, keeping Servite’s offense off the field. Servite took over with 5:55 left in first quarter.
