The Marmonte League coaches and athletic directors met earlier this week to figure out a schedule for the 10 football teams in 2010, with schools pulling numbers from a hat. It just so happened that Westlake Village Oaks Christian and Ventura St. Bonaventure, the two new schools to the league, are scheduled to play each other in their Marmonte League opener in week 2.

‘You got to play them sometime,’ Oaks Christian Coach Bill Redell said.

The final schedule still needs principal approval. Thousand Oaks probably isn’t happy because it drew rival Westlake in its league opener and must play Oaks Christian and St. Bonaventure back to back.

If the principals give approval, then schools can start looking to fill their lone nonleague games either in zero week or week 1. But Oaks Christian-St. Bonaventure in week 2 is already something to look forward to. Oaks Christian has a zero week game set up with Mission Hills Alemany.
