Having not lost a playoff game since 2002 and having won 34 consecutive games overall, Oaks Christian is not used to feeling apprehension about an opponent. But I have never seen the Lions’ coaches so concerned about a game than facing Gardena Serra tonight for the Northwest Division championship.

Whether because of injuries or the speed of Serra, the Oaks Christian faithful are seriously worried. That can be good and not so good. Their confidence could be shaken early if things don’t go well. But it also makes them motivated, knowing they’ll have to perform at their best to win.

Serra has been beaten by Oaks Christian the last two seasons and needs no motivation. This is the game the Cavaliers have been pointing toward since summer practice. The rain is starting to come down, so it’s going to be wet and muddy.
