The last major football coaching opening has been filled, with Los Angeles Loyola selecting Carson’s Mike Christensen as its new coach.

Christensen, who has a sophomore son at Loyola, had been interested in the job from the outset. He coached at Carson the last four seasons, winning three Marine League titles. He also had success at Lakewood and South Torrance. In 16 years as a head coach, his teams have gone to the playoffs 14 times.

Here’s the release from Loyola.
