Unless the weather doesn’t cooperate, the high school baseball season begins on Friday with lots of tournament action.

In the Easton tournament, the best opening games appear to be Westlake at Hart, Hueneme at Chatsworth and Quartz Hill versus Crespi at Valley College.

In the Loara tournament, No. 1 Huntington Beach Edison plays Aliso Niguel at 7 p.m. at Glover Stadium. Santa Margarita is at Long Beach Wilson.

In the Newport Elks tournament, Santa Ana Mater Dei is at Corona Santiago.

Action continues on Saturday. It will be fun to see which top pitchers are in shape and throwing hard and who are the new young players to watch after the first weekend of action.
