Boys’ basketball: Division 6AA game ready to tip off

In about two hours, another champion will be crowned at Colony High.

The boys’ Southern Section Division 6AA final is about to start. Top-seeded Ribet Academy of Los Angeles (19-11) under Coach William Middlebrook is taking on second-seeded Tarbut V’ Torah (23-3) of Irvine, coached by Patrick Roberts.

Ribet Academy is led by Jon Conley (18.8 points per game), the school’s all-time scoring leader, along with Donovan Price (15.3 ppg) and Gregory Sequelle (13.5). The Fighting Frogs won their first three playoff games by an average margin of 31 points.

The Lions (23-3), of the San Joaquin League won 14 straight to start the season and are coming off a thrilling 59-57 road victory over Hope Centre of Comtpon in the semifinals.

Starting lineups are being announced and the opening tip-off is minutes away.
