Girls’ basketball: Carson prevails in overtime

Carson has won its first City Section Division I girls’ basketball championship after coming away with a 53-47 overtime victory over Narbonne.

Chante Miles was the key player for Carson. Her dribbling and penetration helped foul out five Narbonne starters. She also scored 14 points.

The game got so exciting that Carson Coach Marcel Sanders had to leave the sideline during the overtime after suffering breathing difficulties. A team trainer said afterward she believes he will be OK.

UPDATE: Sanders said just before the end of regulation, he started having trouble breathing. He said he was feeling better.
