Baseball: West Ranch sophomore gets 8 RBIs

Unbeaten Valencia West Ranch cruised to its third consecutive victory, a 24-3 triumph over previously unbeaten Hueneme. Sophomore third baseman Josh Heinz went five for five with eight runs batted in. The Wildcats (3-0) also received two doubles and a home run from Ryan Keller.

West Ranch will play Camarillo in an Easton tournament semifinal on Thursday. Camarillo defeated Agoura, 5-4, behind Mike Yingling, who hit a two-run home run.

Westlake defeated El Camino Real, 5-2. Cameron Cuneo struck out eight. Nelson Spruce had two doubles.

Encino Crespi (3-0) defeated Ventura, 10-3, with Scott Heineman getting two hits and two RBIs. The Celts will face Oxnard Rio Mesa (3-0) on Thursday at Rio Mesa in an Easton tournament semifinal game. Rio Mesa defeated Simi Valley, 6-4. Austin Mascoro had two triples.

Chatsworth (2-1) defeated Calabasas, 5-1. Steven Karkenny struck out eight and walked one in a complete game. Alex Rubanowitz went three for three to lead Calabasas.

Cleveland defeated Santa Monica, 8-1. Alex Fera had two doubles for the Cavaliers. Ryan D’Amico allowed three hits in six innings.

Hart defeated Chaminade, 9-5. Josh Wagner had two hits for the Indians (2-1).

Catcher Nick Mandry hit a home run and had five RBIs to lead La Mirada (2-1) past El Dorado, 13-4.

Loyola (2-0) defeated Bishop Montgomery, 11-1, with Danny Haley getting a three-run triple.

Alemany (2-1) defeated Lancaster, 17-2. Anthony Esparza had three hits and three RBIs.

L.A. Cathedral improved to 3-0 with a 6-3 win over Long Beach Jordan. Kyle Merrill had two hits. North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake defeated Oaks Christian, 14-3. Oliver Lowry went three for four. Austin Wilson scored three times and is six for 10 on the season.

St. John Bosco (2-1) defeated Serra, 13-6, with Taylor Sparks getting a home run and six RBIs.
