Compton Centennial has come back from a 15-point deficit early in the third quarter to take a 53-52 lead over Orange Lutheran with eight minutes to go in tonight’s Southern California Regional Division III quarterfinal.

The Apaches took the lead on an alley-oop to Kevin Smith with eight seconds left in the third quarter. Orange Lutheran tried to answer but Tyler Funk’s fall-away three-pointer fell short at the buzzer.

Smith had 12 points in the quarter and has 20 for the game along with teammate Deonte Burton.

Gabe York leads Lutheran with 18 points.

This is still anyone’s game to win but Centennial has seized the momentum with one quarter to play.
