Ryan Anderson’s basket in the paint with six seconds left helped lift Long Beach Poly to a come-from-behind 67-64 victory over Etiwanda in a Southern California regional Division I quarterfinal at Etiwanda.

Jordan Daniels had given the Eagles a 65-64 lead with 16 seconds remaining after making two free throws. But Anderson scored inside and Daniels lost the ball out of bounds on Etiwanda’s ensuing possession while dribbling along the sideline past midcourt.

Robert Nixon Jr. made two free throws with six-tenths of a second left on the clock to seal the victory, which avenged Poly’s loss to Etiwanda in a Southern Section Division 1AA semifinal.

Poly looked to be in good shape when Alex Carmon scored inside and drew a foul, making the ensuing free throw to give the Jackrabbits a 61-58 lead with 1:39 to play. But Daniels drove for a scoop, over-the-shoulder layup in which he was fouled, and he converted the three-point play to tie the score.

After Anderson gave Poly a 63-61 lead with a basket inside, Etiwanda’s Byron Wesley made one of two free throws to cut it to 63-62.
