Boys’ basketball: La Verne Lutheran 8, L.A. Windward 7

The Division V boys’ final between Los Angeles Windward and La Verne Lutheran is under way at Colony, and these two teams either know each other too well or they are in a bad shooting slump.
Both teams struggled to make shots in the first quarter. It was 1-1 with 4:45 left in the quarter. Lutheran has an 8-7 lead going into the second quarter.
Wesley Saunders, Windward’s top player, has muscled his way for two baskets. Former Windward standout Anthony Stover, a freshman at UCLA, is sitting on the floor next to the Windward bench. Recruiters from UCLA, USC and Pepperdine are watching.
