Let me say that the first day of the state basketball championships in Bakersfield is not looking good for the host city. Rabobank Arena has been lacking in fans, and that’s not a good sign for Saturday’s final day.

Supposedly, the people in Bakersfield would come out to watch high school sports even if the local schools were not participating, but that has not been the case on Friday.

The state CIF is going to take a financial hit if the attendance doesn’t pick up on Saturday. They better hope people from Los Angeles start showing up.
