Boys’ basketball: Ross Branson 23, La Verne Lutheran 16

BAKERSFIELD _ The La Verne Lutheran locker room is going to be vibrating with the loud voice of Coach Eric Cooper, because the Trojans trail Ross Branson at halftime, 23-16, in the Division V championship game.

The Trojans have been taking too many one pass jumpers while not applying enough defensive pressure to Branson’s top player, guard Tyler Gaffney, who has 12 points.

It’s either time to pick up the pressure and get a little unselfish or the Trojans are going to be headed home as an unlikely upset victim.
