Girls’ basketball: Long Beach Poly pulls closer

BAKERSFIELD--After trailing by eight points, Long Beach Poly has pulled to within 38-34 going into the fourth quarter of its state Division I championship game against El Dorado Hills Oak Ridge.

The Jackrabbits held Oak Ridge forward Sara James to four points in the third quarter after she had scorched them for 20 in the first half.

Poly now has eight minutes to try and complete its comeback and win a fifth consecutive state title.
