Team academic award winners announced

There were 1,451 entrees for the Southern Section team academic awards among 22 sports, so the winning schools were truly the best of the best.

Here’s a list of the winners.

For example, Thousand Oaks won in boys’ basketball for schools above 1,500 in enrollment with a grade-point average of 3.689. Palos Verdes won in football with a GPA of 3.4.

The most decorated school was Claremont Webb, which had the best academic GPA for under 1,500 in the sports of football, boys’ soccer, boys’ tennis, girls’ tennis, girls’ water polo, girls’ swimming and boys’ track.
