Baseball: Westlake edges Notre Dame, 2-1

Alex Daley, Danny Nieves and Cameron Cuneo came through on the mound to help Westlake defeat Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 2-1, in the Babe Herman tournament.

A bases-loaded walk to Christian Yelich in the sixth inning was the difference for Westlake (6-8).

Simi Valley (7-7) defeated Whittier Christian, 8-3, in the St. Paul tournament. Sophomore Cody Ramer hit his fifth home run. Sophomore Reece Schmidt had a three-run double.

In the Santa Ynez tournament, Montclair Prep had victories over Santa Ynez, 6-5, and Hawthorne, 11-0. Max Fried improved to 5-1 and had seven strikeouts in the first game. Dylan Satin had seven strikeouts in the second game for the Mounties (11-4).

In a consolation game of the National Classic, West Ranch defeated South Hills, 2-1. Ryan Keller struck out six. West Ranch got RBI singles in the first inning from Josh Heinz and Hunter Hernandez.

In the Anaheim Lions tournament, Garden Grove Pacifica defeated Valencia, 3-2.
