Baseball: San Fernando gets pitcher eligible

David Lira, a junior pitcher who transferred from Chatsworth to San Fernando, has been granted a hardship waiver by the City Section and is immediately eligible, according to San Fernando Coach Armando Gomez.

Lira threw a shutout in his debut last month for the Tigers, then was sent to the sidelines while the City Section investigated whether he should be eligible.

Gomez said Lira will return to the mound in a game on Saturday.
