After watching Jesus Valdez of Hueneme throw a no-hitter Tuesday, I didn’t think I’d see a better pitcher for a few days. I was wrong. I’m watching left-hander Cory Hahn of Santa Ana Mater Dei pitch Wednesday night against Orange Lutheran, and my goodness, he is tremendous.

He has struck out seven in three innings. No Lutheran hitter has come close to a hit. Lutheran pitcher Bobby Wheatley is holding his own with four strikeouts in a scoreless game entering the bottom of the fourth.

Hahn is 6-0 with an 0.72 earned-run average coming in, and he deserves respect with his 89 mph fastball and superb control.

UPDATE: Lutheran has broken through for three runs off Hahn in the bottom of the fourth, with Andre Real getting an RBI double and Josh Doyle adding a two-run double.

In other Trinity League games, JSerra defeated Santa Margarita, 1-0. Grahamm Wiest struck out eight in five innings and Reed Reilly had five strikeouts in two innings for the save. Anaheim Servite defeated St. John Bosco, 11-2.
