Simi Valley Royal catcher Ryan Tinkham was the player caught up in the metal bat controversy during the playoffs when his metal composite bat was looked at with suspicion against San Clemente after he got two hits and it made a thud sound.

The bat was taken away and replaced by another metal bat. He got two hits against Santa Ana Mater Dei in the semifinals.
