Jordan Mathews, a sophomore guard who’s the son of new UCLA assistant coach Phil Mathews, has transferred from Riverside North to Santa Monica.

He was playing for Santa Monica on Sunday in the Crespi tournament. Santa Monica is going to be an intriguing team over the next three years. Coach James Hecht could have as many as six sophomores playing on varsity.

And he has a good junior guard in Jerry Shevlin, who had 15 points in an overtime loss to West Hills Chaminade on Sunday.
