Baseball: VIBL playoffs are about to begin

The regular season in the Valley Invitational Baseball League comes to a close Tuesday, followed by the playoffs. It has been a competitive summer using wood bats.

Chatsworth has the best record at 12-3, followed by Valencia (12-4), Valencia West Ranch (12-4) and Simi Valley Royal (12-4). The question is when the playoffs begin, will teams be at full strength and get back players who have been unavailable while participating in showcases and tournaments?

A.J. Balta from Valencia leads the league with a .613 average. Steven Karkenny from Chatsworth tops the league in home runs with three. Alex Rubanowitz from Calabasas and Tommy Bilbo from Newhall Hart lead the league with 25 hits apiece.
