Football: Griffin cleared to play for La Habra

La Habra running back Drake Griffin is eligible and has been cleared to play tonight by Highlanders coach Frank Mazzotta. The 5’ 10,’ 205-lb. senior transfer from Santa Fe Springs St. Paul was declared ineligible by the CIF last week but La Habra appealed on the grounds that Griffin established legal change of residence.

Griffin rushed for nearly 950 yards and 11 touchdowns at St. Paul last season.

La Habra won the coin toss but deferred to the second half, so Orange Lutheran will get the ball first. Glover Stadium is packed and the teams are lining up for the kickoff...
