City Section postpones cross country meet

The City Section has postponed a scheduled cross-country meet Thursday afternoon at Pierce College because of ‘predicted’ hot temperatures, according to a spokeswoman in the City athletics office.
The meet will be rescheduled for Monday. On Oct. 1, sports officials were criticized by Supt. Ramon Cortines of the Los Angeles Unified School District for allowing a meet to be held at Pierce during scorching temperatures.
