Yohance Salimu’s blocked punt that went out of the end zone for a safety has given Crenshaw an 18-0 lead over Carson with 1:17 left in the third quarter.

The big surprise of this City title game is the lack of offense from Crenshaw, which scored 44, 49 and 63 points in its three earlier playoff games.

De’Anthony Thomas had 46-yard run in the third quarter, and the Cougars switched to last year’s quarterback, Marquis Thompson, in the second half, but their offense still hasn’t produced any points.

The bad news for Carson is that Crenshaw’s defense has bottled up quarterback Justin Alo from the start. He has been sacked twice but pressured many times. Both Crenshaw touchdowns came on interception returns in the first quarter.

Hurting both offenses have been illegal procedure penalties.
