There could be an upset brewing.

Moreno Valley Canyon Springs went on a 9-0 run at the top of the second quarter to reduce Brea Olinda’s lead to 19-18 at halftime at the Southern Section Division 1AA semifinals at Anaheim Arena on Tuesday.

Brea Olinda, ranked No. 1 in the nation, led 13-4 at the end of the first quarter, but UCLA-bound senior center Justine Hartman took a hard spill with two minutes 38 seconds remaining in the quarter and was taken out of the game. Hartman spent the rest of the half on the bench with ice on her right knee.

Without Hartman, the Ladycats looked stunned and lost and the Cougars found their offensive rhythm.

Cheyenne Greenhouse leads Canyon Springs (27-2) with six points and Sophia Ederaine has five points and four rebounds. Keitra Wallace leads Brea Olinda (28-0) with seven points.
