Baseball: Capistrano Valley knocks off No. 1 Mission Viejo

Hawaii-bound David Longville pitched well and helped Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley knock off No. 1 Mission Viejo, 3-2, in a season-opening baseball game on Friday.

San Fernando remained unbeaten with a 4-2 win over Westchester. Willie Vasquez hit a two-run home run and Jose Reyes struck out 10 in six innings.

West Ranch defeated Burbank Burroughs, 4-1. Ryan Keller allowed three hits in five innings. Josh Heinz had two hits and two RBIs.

Palm Desert defeated Bishop Amat, 5-1. Brooks Kriske struck out seven. Cody Kabeary had three hits.

Moorpark defeated Reseda Cleveland, 6-2. Andrew Devian had three hits for Cleveland.

Granada Hills defeated Palisades, 3-1. Hart defeated Dos Pueblos, 2-1. Luke Persico had an RBI triple in the first inning.
