Girls’ basketball: St. Joseph takes 43-38 lead

Alyson Beebe of Santa Maria St. Joseph has been all but unstoppable in the Southern Section Division 3AA championship game at the Anaheim Convention Center. She has 17 points and 17 rebounds through three quarters. More importantly, her team has a 43-38 lead over Gardena Serra going into the fourth quarter.

With Beebe on the bench with three fouls, the Cavaliers pulled to within one point twice late in the third quarter, but the Knights’ junior center returned to score St. Joseph’s last two baskets.
