Chatsworth is 6-2 and still hasn’t used All-City pitcher Christian Lopez, who has been sidelined with tendonitis. Coach Tom Meusborn said Lopez is back throwing and could return in two weeks when West Valley League play begins.

Also important is that he’ll be available when Chatsworth will need all the pitching it can find for the National Classic next month in Orange County.

Lopez could have a difficult time becoming one of Chatsworth’s top two starters this season because Aaron Brown and Angel Rodriguez have thrown well.

‘He looks good,’ Meusborn said. ‘He’s getting back into form.’

Another All-City pitcher, Jonathan Hernandez of Banning, is also expected back in a couple of weeks after having a similar tendonitis problem. Another pitcher expected back next month is Taft’s Zach Friedman, who has been nursing a sore arm.
