A question put to L.A. Windward Coach Miguel Villegas at the conclusion of a news conference discussing the Wildcats’ 63-57 victory over Richmond Salesian in Saturday’s state Division IV championship basketball game produced tears and an emotional response from Villegas.

He talked about former Windward student Daniel Tan, who recently died after a fight with a neurological disease.
