Boys’ basketball: Top freshman in state is Parker Cartwright

Los Angeles Loyola Coach Jamal Adams is beaming these days, because his prized freshman point guard, Parker Cartwright, was named the top freshman basketball player in the state by Cal-Hi Sports.

‘It’s a very awesome award,’ Adams said. ‘It’s a great honor to be named the top freshman in the state.’

Now the Cubs will be building around Cartwright and their top returnees, Justin Childress and Julian Harrell. Loyola is expected to be one of the top teams in the state next season.
