Baseball: Westlake wins Marmonte League title

A 15-2 victory over Agoura on Wednesday coupled with a Newbury Park loss has given Westlake Village Westlake the Marmonte League championship.

Freshman Luke Dykstra hit a grand slam to highlight the Warriors’ victory. Westlake finishes league play with a 10-4 record.

Simi Valley rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Newbury Park, 8-7. Nick Vigo hit a home run and Dylan Alexander finished with three RBIs for the Pioneers, who were 8-5 and finished second. Alexander had a two-run double in the seventh and Cole Acheranti drove in the winning run. Dane Tucker went four for four to lead Newbury Park (8-5), which will enter the playoffs as the third-place team.

Thousand Oaks defeated Calabasas, 8-5. Royal defeated Moorpark, 8-5, to win its school-record 11th consecutive game. Justin Greco and Atherton Kniseley hit home runs.

In the Foothill League, Hart defeated Golden Valley, 7-4. Valencia got two-run home runs from Trey Williams and A.J. Balta in an 8-5 win over Canyon Country Canyon. Alex Bishop added three hits, Shane Zeile hit a home run and Quincy Quintero had two RBIs. West Ranch defeated Saugus, 5-3. JC Cloney struck out eight. Matt Blake had three hits.

In the Golden League, Quartz Hill won its second consecutive title with a 12-1 victory over Eastside. Daniel Pitts hit a three-run home run. Palmdale moved into a third-place tie with a 6-1 win over Highland. Jerry Keel struck out 10 and threw a three-hitter. Mike Livingston had a triple and home run.

In the Camino Real League, L.A. Cathedral (23-4, 13-1) defeated St. Bernard, 6-4. Chris Flores had a home run and double. Gardena Serra defeated Cantwell Sacred Heart, 8-3.
