Track & Field: Taft’s Castillo wins 800 at City Finals

Mario Castillo of Woodland Hills Taft won the boys’ 800-meter race in 1:56.65, fellow senior Mufid Taha of Marshall was second in 1:57.23 and Joseph Scott of South East was third in 1:57.93 at the City Section Championships in Lake Balboa.

Maira Solis of Roosevelt won the girls’ 800 in 2:19.54, Monique Wang was second in 2:20.95 and Nancy Andrade of Marshall was third in 2:21.95.

The top three boys and top three girls qualify for the state finals.
