Van Nuys Montclair Prep pitcher Max Fried threw four innings of no-hit ball to help his AABC team defeat Dixie, 4-2, in the Tournament of Stars in North Carolina and earn a spot in the gold-medal game on Sunday night. Players are trying to make the U.S. 18U national team. Fried is the only pitcher in the tournament with a 2-0 record.

And on Sunday, he’s being honored at the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame induction dinner as the Jewish high school male athlete of the year at the Skirball Center. He’ll be missing the banquet to keep playing baseball.
