Without a single football game having been played in the 2011 season, let me make an easy prediction. Senior receiver Jordan Farris from Ventura St. Bonaventure will be the newcomer of the year.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Farris hasn’t played football since his freshman year. He focused on baseball the last two years, batting .432 with eight home runs as a junior.

But he returned to football this summer, and all signs point toward his having an impact season.

‘He’s a stud,’ Coach Todd Therrien said.

On Tuesday, he was playing against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame in a seven-on-seven passing competition and showing his many skills, which include good hands, good strength, quickness and agility.

‘I feel real comfortable,’ Farris said.

Farris should have a productive season catching passes from veteran quarterback Marc Evans.

Farris is the younger brother of former St. Bonaventure shortstop KC Serna, who played at Oregon.
