I’ve known Tim Lins since he was an assistant coach at Encino Crespi during the Bill Redell days of the 1980s. He has always been relatively quiet, low key, avoids making predictions and lets his players do the talking on the field.

He’s one of the best coaches around, and Moorpark is lucky to have him. The Musketeers open their season on Friday at home against Palos Verdes, and Lins has lots of confidence in this year’s team, particularly because he has quarterback Grant Rohach.

‘We have a lot of seniors that have experience,’ he said.

None are better than Rohach, an Iowa State commit who knows how to run an offense, limit his mistakes and show leadership.

While St. Bonaventure, Oaks Christian and Westlake are mentioned as the top teams in the Marmonte League, don’t forget about Moorpark. Rohach is the kind of player who can elevate a team pretty high, and Lins is known for his competitiveness.
