Talk about a momentum-changer.

Getting shut out and unable to move the football, Long Beach Poly sacked Carson quarterback Kevin McMahon in the end zone for a safety.

Then, on the next play from scrimmage, Jackrabbits quarterback Chaiyse Hales connected with Richard Smith for a 46-yard touchdown pass to give Poly the lead. Jeff Turley ran in the two-point conversion to give the Jackrabbits a 10-6 advantage.

Hales had been replaced by quarterback Nicholas Pope for one series after failing to complete two passes on his first two drives. Pope completed one of four passes for five yards before giving way to Hales on the quick-strike drive.
