It’s a tough week for the Luderer family when Encino Crespi faces Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.

Matt Luderer, the Celts’ athletic director, always has to deal with the fact that his younger brother, Michael, was a standout receiver for Notre Dame.

So this week, when Crespi plays host to Notre Dame on Friday, Matt says, ‘I’m being nice to him.’

Of course, Michael has been having a bit of a bad time from last season, when Notre Dame lost to Crespi in the final seconds. And the fact Michael’s wife is a Chaminade grad is causing him more trouble, since Notre Dame lost to Chaminade the last two seasons.

‘He says he’s been hearing from her for a year,’ Matt said. ‘Now he’ll get it from her for another year.’

It’s homecoming for Crespi, which means the alumni should be out en force. Since UCLA is off, I expect Joe Fauria and Kevin Prince will make an appearance. Notre Dame might want to bring in Justin Fargas for the game.

But there’s always Michael Luderer to make the Celts nervous. Here’s video of his 2000 touchdown catch against Mira Costa. Big brother Matt even liked that one.
