Football: It’s cold, muddy and a test for certain players

Let’s be grateful for the wet weather and muddy fields. It’s a chance for a group of players who want to play in the Ivy League or East Coast colleges to prove they can handle conditions that are normal outside of Southern California.

Los Angeles Loyola has several players looking at the Ivy League, so Friday night’s game on Alemany’s grass field will be a good test. It’s muddy and a little drenched, so I’m going to learn which of these aspiring Ivy Leaguers from the Cubs deserves a chance to play in rain and snow.

The Serra League championship will be decided by the winner. The loser could be facing coin flips in another week to decide a Pac-5 Division playoff berth.
