Football: ‘Super Mario’ Smith gets 359 yards rushing for Costa Mesa

Senior running back Mario Smith of Costa Mesa didn’t just have a good game against Laguna Beach. He rushed for 359 yards in 30 carries and scored seven touchdowns in a 63-47 victory.

His touchdown runs measured 31, 3, 12, 4, 37, 1 and 49 yards.

‘Just playing physical throughout the game and never giving up,’ Smith told the Daily Pilot.

Costa Mesa (8-1) has won eight consecutive games.
