Jeremy Martinez (Mater Dei), Chase DeJong (Long Beach Wilson), Hunter Virant (Camarillo) and Cole Irvin (Servite) will be returning home on Monday after helping the U.S. 18U national team win the gold medal on Sunday at the COPABE 18U/AAA Pan American Championships in Cartagena, Colombia.

The U.S. team went unbeaten and defeated Canada, 12-2, in the final.

DeJong, Virant and Irvin are pitchers. They’re going to get some time off in preparation for the prep season that begins in February. Martinez, a catcher, will probably be back in the batting cage Tuesday afternoon.
