You’d think beating No. 1-seeded Gardena Serra in the opening round of the Western Division playoffs would be enough satisfaction for Culver City. No, the Centaurs now have this crazy idea they can be the champions.

Last week in the quarterfinals, quarterback Lukas O’Connor completed 17 of 22 passes for 415 yards and six touchdowns in a 51-28 victory.

Culver City faces Ocean League rival Santa Monica on Friday in the ‘battle for Westside supremacy.’

Coach Jahmel Wright has done a good job making sure his players didn’t get too big headed after their upset of Serra. And there’s plenty of talent on Culver City.

Linebacker Khalil Pettway has five scholarship offers. Senior receiver Alex Jackson has 10 offers. Junior receiver Julius Wilson just picked up an offer from Washington and is averaging 26 yards on punt returns.
