Boys’ basketball: L.A. Price overcomes 16-point deficit to win

Down by 16 points late in the third quarter, Los Angeles Price launched a successful comeback against Los Angeles Windward and came away with a 69-64 victory in a quarterfinal game of the Santa Monica tournament.
Kahlil Johnson, who played for Palisades last season, made five three-pointers and finished with 21 points. Trey Dickerson, who played for Montclair Prep last season, made his season debut for Price, scoring 16 points. Price will face either Alemany or Palisades in Friday’s semifinals. Fairfax defeated Santa Monica, 45-41, with Ronny Price scoring 18 points.
In a consolation game, sophomore Jack Williams scored 28 points in Chaminade’s 69-48 win over Canoga Park.
In the Moorpark tournament, freshman Ryan Ducar made all 10 of his free throws in the fourth quarter and Kennedy Edwards contributed 23 points and 13 rebounds as Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated Moorpark, 65-57.
In the L.A. University tournament, Buckley (4-0) defeated Banning, 53-51, in overtime. Tyler Copping Carter had 26 points and 13 rebounds. University defeated Los Angeles, 53-48. Huntington Park College Ready defeated Bernstein, 53-40.
In the Canyon tournament, London Perrantes scored 16 points in Crespi’s 70-33 win over Eastside. Crespi is 3-0. Granada Hills Kennedy received 17 points from Dom Vargas to defeat Highland, 63-57. Grant defeated Valencia, 63-61. Canyon defeated Lancaster, 73-38. Clay Kasdorf had 32 points and Coley Apsay 20. Friday’s semifinals: Grant vs. Crespi, 6 p.m.; Canyon vs. Kennedy, 7:30 p.m.
In the Westchester tournament, Bishop Montgomery defeated Taft, 50-49.
