Panorama, a relatively new City Section school in Panorama City that hasn’t had much success in basketball, came through with an historic victory on Friday when it defeated Granada Hills Kennedy, 45-42, in a Valley Mission League game.

It was the first league loss for Kennedy since Jan. 29, 2010. The Golden Cougars had won 21 consecutive league games.

Panorama improved to 15-7 overall and took over first place in league with a 6-0 record. Senior guard Michael Meza led the way with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Kennedy missed on a three-point attempt at the buzzer. Panorama students stormed the court to celebrate.
