There’s word that Butch Goncharoff, the successful head coach at Bellevue (Wash.), is interested in the Orange Lutheran coaching position. At least that’s according to a friend of Goncharoff.

If true, he’d certainly be a top candidate to succeed Jim Kunau. He brought Bellevue to Southern California last season and beat Westlake Village Oaks Christian.

On Tuesday, Goncharoff confirmed he has applied for the job. ‘It’s a great area and a great situation,’ he said. ‘I wouldn’t have applied if I wasn’t interested. We’ll see what happens.’ -- Eric Sondheimer
