Boys’ basketball: Ron Lee Jr. vs. Max Guercy

It’s going to be the battle of the elite point guards in the Southern Section Division 3A final, matching Oak Park and junior guard Ron Lee Jr. against Alemany and senior guard Max Guercy.
Lee made a believer of St. John Bosco Coach Derrick Taylor this past week, helping lead the Eagles past St. John Bosco in the semifinals.
‘He’s really, really good,’ Taylor said. ‘He’s as good as we’ve seen all year. We couldn’t contain him.’
Guercy could be the player of the year in the Mission League. He went up against Parker Cartwright of Loyola, London Perrantes of Crespi and Jaron Martin of Chaminade. He has picked up three scholarship offers since the season began from Hawaii, Northeastern and Hartford.
Way back on Dec. 17, Alemany beat Oak Park, 71-55.
It’s going to be quite a matchup this coming week.
